New Music: Ft. Lunatraktors, Shrink, Pynch & Josie Man

We have four new songs for you to listen to this week

This Friday, while you are social distancing or even heading back to work, let these new tracks from Kent artists tune your ears in to what the most musically productive county in the country sounds like right now.

We have added all tracks to the ‘cene #KeepitKent Spotify Playlist HERE

LUNATRAKTORS - UNQUIET GRAVE

Following their absorbing 2019 album ‘This Is Broken Folk’, Margate duo Lunatraktors continue to break down what you think folk music is, with new EP ‘Bonefires’.

Heralded by MOJO magazine, the pairing blends Carli Jefferson’s prominent percussion with the impressive vocal talents of nonbinary singer Clair Le Couteur. New album  ‘The MIssing Star’ is not far away, but we already love this precursor, especially ‘Unquiet Grave’.

Aiming an angry finger at those in Westminster, the eerie song is built from jolting cymbals, increasingly angry drums and lyrics that lament the victims of austerity policy. Chilling.

SHRINK - DROWNING

Shrink, aka Sam Breathwick, has been on many of our radars for a number of years. The Tunbridge Wells musician is also the brains behind Vasser, who has garnered millions of plays for his tracks like ‘Whatever You Want’.

A true talent, Shrink has now taken Sam in another direction. New single ‘Drowning’, has the wobbly guitars of a dreamy narrative where the track seems to sit and contemplate. An upbeat drum and beautiful tones keep it light. We can’t wait to hear more. Changing.

PYNCH - THE WHOLE WORLD’S GOING CRAZY (FOR LOVE)

The world needs a bit more of this right now. Thoughts of our younger years come rushing back with the new track from Ramsgate natives, Pynch.

Perhaps it is aimed at us all, to drown out what’s happening right now in 2020, “While the ship is sinking…”, but the thoughts conjured by lyrics such as “sleeping 15 to a room..” and “the things we wanna do”, transports you to a happier place.

The mixture of indie rock, electronics and new wave vocals is a fascinating soup that we want to swim in. Distracting.

JOSIE MAN - GROW

This is it. The one that takes everything into the stratosphere. Josie Man has been kicking out explorative, soul searching pop tunes for a little while now, and as such, it is no surprise that new track ‘Grow’ has taken off the way it has already.

It feels like you’ve heard it before, because it is so comfortably sat in the top draw of Kent pop talent. As with many of the Orpington artist’s tracks, there is a playful melody and sweet overtones, but with meaningful, heartfelt lyrics produced from life experiences.

“I’ve been hurt, lessons learned, but nothing ever grows with out it…”

This one is going to explode. Building.
