The Art Car Boot Fair returns to Margate
Described as ‘The most stylish car boot sale imaginable’ by Vogue magazine, the Art Car Boot Fair returns to Margate at the end of September
Weekend visitors to Margate coming to look at these local shows will then have the chance to buy original artworks direct from leading artists at incredible prices. The theme of the Margate fair is love: love for the planet, love for each other and love of art.
This is the second Margate edition of The Art Car Boot Fair after the sell out event in 2015 outside Turner Contemporary that saw queues stretch up to the LIDO and over 3000 people through the door.
The Love Margate edition will feature an incredible mix of artists across all disciplines including Pam Hogg, Juno Calypso, Marcus Harvey, Susie Hamilton, Kristjana Williams, Ben Eine, Sara Pope, Charming Baker, Anne Ryan, Geraldine Swayne, Polly Morgan, Mat Collishaw, Colin Self, Camille Phoenix, Kate Knight, Chris Levine, Carrie Reichardt, Lady Muck, Tracy Neuls, Julie Maddison, Miaz Brothers, Turps Painters, Sadie Hennessy, Bridgeman Editions, Smithson Gallery, Frea Buckler, Jealous Gallery, Holly Allan, True Rocks, Renaissance Selfies, Mr Bingo, The Misfortune Teller, Bumble & Earwig, Paul Hodgson, Wilma Johnson, Wilfred Wood, Keira Rathbone, Bip Ling, Wildcat Will, Art On A Postcard, It's A Living, Joseph Gibson, Campervan, L-13, Worton Hall Studios, Bob & Roberta Smith (Tbc), Jessica Voorsanger (Tbc), James Joyce, Roman Manfredi, Atom Gallery, Tony Beaver and Paul Davis.
One of the best loved art events in the UK, the public get to meet and haggle with a stellar line-up of artists who produce works especially for the event and sell at astonishing prices. This exciting one-day fair takes place on Saturday 28th September, coinciding with the opening of the Turner Prize at Turner Contemporary, a new exhibition at Carl Freedman’s recently opened gallery and the Margate Now festival.
The cream of local Margate artists will also join the line-up including Vic Reeves, David Shillinglaw, James Springall And Pete Doherty Collaboration, Michael Kulikselzer, Jessica Jane Charleston, Resort, Margo Mcdaid, Crate, Babe Studio, Charlie Evaristo Boyce, Tinsel and Twinkle and Ruth Fox.
Art Car Boot Fair has made a name for itself as the only place to bid, buy and haggle with some of the most coveted artists in the world. Many pieces are available for £50 and under, with some created and personalised by the artists on the spot. The September fair will be an incredible opportunity to buy these unique works at one-off, bargain prices. There will also be portrait opportunities, mystery prizes, raffles, pass the art parcel, the art of dating, the Secret Art Casino plus a host of performances, mouthwatering food and delicious drinks.
The fair will take place at Dreamland, just a short walk from Margate train station, the beach and Turner Contemporary. Just 1000 advance tickets will be made available and advance ticket holders will have priority entry from 1-2pm. Tickets bought on the day will allow entry from 2pm.
