NEW MUSIC: Havelock releases new single
‘Pheromones’ is the etherial fourth single from Havelock on Globe Town Records
‘Groovy’ is the word that first springs to mind with ‘Pheromones’ from the opening finger clicks through to upbeat synths of the chorus (and not in a 70s disco way, in an R&B, Pharell Williams-produced way).
Telling a story of lust, or maybe love, “Look what you’ve started, bringing your body close / Baby I’m drowning, lost in your pheromones”, Havelock has created a three-minute narrative. He periodically brings in some heavier drums and baseline, speeding up the tempo as if invigorated by the object of his desire as hinted in the song. It’s properly clever, and properly moreish. I’m humming it again now FFS.
The Kent artist (though he now resides in The Big Smoke), took to his social media to say: “It's my final song from this 4-track body of work and I'm buzzin' for you lot to hear it. Exciting things are bubbling away nicely behind the scenes 🌋. Soon enough, all will be revealed to your eyes and ears. But for now, here are a couple hints, expressed through emojis :
1. 🎶+🕺+🎥 = 🔜
2. 💥 💽 = ⏳
”It's been a crazy year so far - the hard work is finally paying off and I want to thank everyone involved.”

In our summer edition, ‘cene’s music writer Rob Hakimian said:
“Young singer Havelock grew up in the Kent countryside but, like many before him, moved to the city to pursue a career in music.
The transition hasn’t been easy, with the constant grind and hustle sapping creative energy as much as it inspires. Nevertheless, Havelock believes in his abilities, and on his two singles released so far you can hear why – his natural vocal abilities are radiant and crisp like a fresh morning breeze.
On song Vacancy he’s turned his frustrations directly into aural gold, singing about grabbing money from low-paying jobs to give him “something that [he] can hold, somewhere that [he] can go, without working to the bone”. Teaming with producer Oscar Scheller, the duo have created a woozy but placid pop-R&B jam that floats through the daily stresses and finds sunshine in the grit.”
