Artists Wanted - Celebrate the World of Creativity in Gravesham
The project looks to bring together artists creating large-scale murals
Tuesday 21st April 2026 is World Creativity & Innovation Day – raising awareness of creativity and innovation in all aspects of our lives.
To mark the occasion the St George’s Arts Centre in Gravesend has commissioned a number of artists to design and create murals which honour creativity as a driving force for cultural expression, innovation and social connection, which will culminate in an exhibition running at the arts centre from Tuesday 21st April to Sunday 24th May.
The project brings together artists creating large-scale murals using a variety of mediums to transform the gallery walls into bold visual statements that reflect the power and diversity of creative thinking.
Artists were invited to submit their proposals based on their interpretation of the theme of ‘Step out & Innovate’. They were asked to explore the brief through Imagination, originality and self-expression, cultural identity and global perspectives, the creative process - from idea to execution, and art as a tool for connection, change, and inspiration. The chosen designs were then selected anonymously by a panel, and the commissioned artists are invited to work in the gallery from Monday 20th – Friday 24th April to create the work in front of the public so their creative processes can be shared.
