2026 AT TURNER CONTEMPORARY
What’s on at Turner Contemporary this year?
April marks Turner’s 15th year and the gallery will spend the month celebrating the people, moments, and shared experiences that have helped shape it. Visitors and supporters are invited to share their own memories and Turner-esque skies online using #TurnerSkies.
Bridget Riley: Learning to See
Until 4th May 2026
Surveying Riley’s enduring connection with the natural world and her career-long study of the sensory experience of sight, Learning to See includes works from the late 60s, her most recent canvases, and wall paintings from the last decade. The exhibition also brings together preparatory works on paper showing how the practice of drawing has underpinned her working life.
David Hockney: Sunley Window 2026
1st Apr–1st Nov 2026
David Hockney will realise the next Sunley Window. Measuring seven by ten metres, Hockney’s work will transform the gallery’s iconic floor-to-ceiling window in the Sunley Gallery overlooking Margate’s beaches and the North Sea. The work will be illuminated after dark, extending its presence beyond daylight hours.
Hulda Guzmán
23rd May–13th Sep 2026
This summer Turner Contemporary will present the first European institutional exhibition of Hulda Guzmán, a Dominican artist gaining international attention for her distinctive and imaginative approach to painting. Drawing on Mexican muralism, Caribbean vernacular traditions, and Western art history, Guzmán's paintings open portals into vibrant, dreamlike worlds where the artist, her family, animals, and mythical beings exist in close dialogue with nature.
The Drawing Studio
Until Nov 2026
Pop in, relax and be inspired in The Drawing Studio. This summer Turner is transforming the Clore Learning Studio; filling the space with books, objects, curiosities and materials so everyone can get involved and discover the joy of drawing. As well as the materials and activities in the space, a range of workshops, family activities and events will be taking place for those wanting to practice their skills or try something new.
