Fests, lycra vests and things to digest
That searing heat, that dry mouth, that light beaming into your space; this seems familiar. Are you in the middle of the Sahara Desert? No, the clink of pots and pans brings you back to reality. You are in a tent, it’s 6am and you forgot to fill up the water bottle.
Who doesn’t love camping? Especially at a festival! And this year, Kent is absolutely full to the brim with celebrations of music, arts, food and drink… and circuit training?!? Check out our festivals and events special feature to find out what madness we’re on about.
Once again, ‘cene magazine has partnered with a number of the top fests’ in the county, so look out on our social media for all the previews, reviews and backstage highlights!
On to this edition, where we meet M Dot R, the Sheerness dancehall artist ripping up the online scene with an international fan base (page 14).
We are on shoot with the Shop Floor Whore and her funky festival fashions (page 8), while graffiti and conceptual artist Chu plays games with the gentry (page 18).
We talk Roman roads with Rochester’s Tattoo By Law (page 34), while our Bite Club takes us to some of our favourite Italian restaurants (page 48).
We interview renowned chef Scott Goss at Verdigris in Tonbridge (page 24), as well as burn off our arm hair during a round-up of summer barbecue favourites (page 54).
We also have six up-and-coming Kent musicians doing their thing, 48 Hours in Haarlem, a visit to the ‘cathedral of brewing’... plus there’s more that I can’t fit on this page!
