Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp, attendees will experience aspects of the peace camp, including campfire singing, banner making and discussion.

In September 1981, women around the UK descended on Berkshire in beautiful indignation against the storage of American nuclear missiles in the UK. They created Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp. The created an exclusively female space and thrived together, pushing those watching to question war, sexual orientation, and gender roles.

This event is inspired by the women of the peace camp.

The immersive, historical, theatrical experience will start at Powell Cotton Museum's bandstand where refreshments will be available. From there, you will be guided through the five gates of Greenham Common and be able to join in with the activities at each one.

Enjoy Greenham campfire songs at Red Gate, get crafty with banners and hanging messages at Orange Gate, increase your wellbeing with Tai Chi at Green Gate, experience lively chat about politics with Greenham Women at Yellow Gate and finish with a socially distanced party and mocktails at Blue Gate, with a female DJ playing music from the time, chosen by Greenham Women.

To attend, book a slot between 11am and 4pm at powthanet.com. This experience lasts 1 hour. You will be guided around the event in socially distanced groups of 6.

This is an outdoor event in the gardens of the Powell Cotton Museum, so attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, dress warmly and be prepared for the English weather.

All Government guidance will be adhered to. This is a socially distanced outdoor event. Hand sanitiser will be provided. Toilets will be available on the day and you will need to wear a mask to use them, unless exempt.
