We have picked out four new tracks for you to listen to this week
This Friday, while you are social distancing or even heading back to work, let these new tracks from Kent artists tune your ears in to what the most musically productive county in the country sounds like right now.
We have added all tracks to the ‘cene #KeepitKent Spotify Playlist HERE
HAVELOCK - LONDON’S BURNING
“We’ve said it before, and we will say it again… there’s no genre this man can’t turn his hand to. This time with a slower, reggae-style melody, Havelock chronicles the plight of many of the capital’s residents, ‘London’s burning, every inch of my earnings, like gasoline’. There is a political message, a worry of worsening recession and a very palpable fear that what grafters bring in now, barely covers the rent. A highly emotive track, that will really speak to people who have experienced this. Real.”
YORE - SHADE FT. BLACK GOLD BUFFALO
“Shade is a trip-poppy, semi-psyhce cloud burst of a song from Yore - the brand new solo project from musician and producer Callum Brown. Featuring the New Wave tones of Black Gold Buffalo, who have ties to Cliftonville, Margate, through etherial vocalist Keziah Stilwell, the new track has got a relentless energy despite its slightly sombre tone. Light coming out of the dark. Love it.”
JASTED X L-DIS FT. JACK LIGHT - REASON
“Featuring former Kent Uni student and front runner of the county’s rap revolution Jack Light, ‘Reason’ is a dirty beat track by Russian duo Jasted. Sirens waling get you on alert for an absolute night starter. High-tempo blasts are paired with Jack’s unmistakable lyrics in a mash made from all manor of electro-based genres. Pump up the volume.”
MR WU’S PIGS - PLAY FOR KEEPS
“Taken from the newly-released album ‘Sick Of Death’, ‘Play for Keeps’ is a fast paced fuzz pile of beautiful guitar cacophony. With slightly heavier drums, it is one of the more grunge tracks on the album - the riffs could easily be that of a Nirvana or Pearl Jam - but it is brought back home with aggressive Blighty punk vocals. “I keep my emotions balled up in my fist”, is the line that perfectly sums up the track. It’s bloody gorgeous. I want a Mr Wu’s Pigs t-shirt.”
