'Cene stage at Macknade Ashford Pre-launch
‘cene to curate a line-up of Kent talent alongside acclaimed independent food & drink brand Macknade
Award-winning ‘cene Magazine is curating line-up of top up-and-coming Kent artists as part of the pre-launch party for Macknade Ashford on Saturday September 14th.
The live event takes place outside in the new Elwick Place development between 12pm and 7pm, with quality music, food and drink stalls, demonstrations and tastings from an extended foodie family.
On the bill will be Folkestone duo SKIES. Ahead of their nationwide headline tour, Alie Cotter (lead vocals/guitar) and Jericho Tozer (drums/vocals/synths) will be handpicking elements of pop, rock & emo in equal measure.
Working with 27:28 Records, ‘cene will also bring a trio of solo artists to the event.
Hot on the tail of his brand new EP release ‘Spreading Light’, Canterbury-based acoustic soul artist Samuel Ashton will bring rasping tones and meaningful lyrics to the ‘cene Stage.
Another with a new EP out (‘Skin’), L. Norton combines electro and disco to express a sentiment of ‘doing it your way’, with influences from 70s female icons through to Gorillaz.
Our third act in conjunction with 27:28 Records is Nancy Okai. The singer-songwriter from Margate has been making music since her debut EP ‘Daydreams’ was release in 2012. While her songs are chronicles of love, loss and joy, her live performance at CSP in the Park Canterbury and her edition of Foo Fighters’ ‘All My Life’ show her versatility.
Macknade opens its new food and drink hub later this year at Elwick Place, featuring pasture-fed meat cooked on a Big Green Egg and platters of local and continental cheese from the deli bar.
Some of the county’s leading drinks producers will also be on hand to celebrate alongside Macknade, including Curious Brewing, Simpsons Wine Estate, Duddas Tun Cider and Coxy’s Liqueurs.
The team from Macknade’s flagship food hall in Faversham, which this year celebrates its 40th birthday, will be on hand to talk about plans for the new site.
