FRIENDLY FIRES JOIN WHEELS AND FINS FESTIVAL AS SUNDAY NIGHT HEADLINERS
With support from Mystery Jets and The Social Singing Choir.
Wheels and Fins has announced indie outfit, Friendly Fires to headline its Lighthouse Main Stage on Sunday 8th September.
The two-day festival, also taking place on Saturday 7th September, at Joss Bay Beach in Broadstairs (near Margate), has also added to the bill, Mystery Jets, The Social Singing Choir, Frazer and Killing Giants, whilst revealed for the VIP area are BBC Radio 1 DJ’s, Gemma Cairney and Jack Saunders.
The highlight of this latest announcement comes in the form of Sunday night headliners, Friendly Fires. Excitement builds around the St Albans band who recently announced the arrival of new their album ‘Inflorescent’ landing this August. Hype surrounds this release - their first full-length in over eight years – and after a string of standout appearances at festivals, Glastonbury and Citadel, it’s clear to see why.
Even more entertainment has been unveiled, including a Silent Disco where festival goers can switch between channels of pure rock music to bumping house grooves, dare devil Extreme Bike Battles, and not-for-the-faint-hearted, the Mad Drop Air Bag challenge. Wheels and Fins is much sought after for its quality mix of music, action sports and beach culture.
The lineup already announced for 2019 includes punk duo Slaves, drum ‘n’ bass legends S.P.Y, Kings Of The Rollers, Logistics and DJ Zinc, house and tech stars Noisia, Redlight and Barely Legal, and much more.
Across the site and on the beach, a plethora of high octane and chilled out activities are on offer. From sup sessions, surfing, beach volleyball and yoga, to pro-skate comps, axe throwing and now, Extreme Bike Battles, and the Mad Drop Air Bag where guests can experience the life of a stuntman, hurling themselves from a great height onto a huge air bag as others look on in awe!
Wheels and Fins Festival is also thrilled to announce plans for The Cove. Built from 14 shipping containers and featuring a purpose-built wooden stage with adjacent DJ booths, The Cove is an area of exploration. It will be home to acoustic and live music, DJs spinning blissed out housed sets, and the Silent Disco. The juxtaposition of party goers dancing as they switch channels on their headphones between the Totally Wired rock channel and house vibes over on the Canterbury Vibes frequency, will give onlookers a sight worth seeing!
Alongside the attractive programme at Wheels and Fins, revellers will find some well stocked bars catering for all favourite tipples. Just announced is Heineken Super Bar, Lagunitas Motor Home Barstocking craft ales, the Redbull Bar returning for its second year, the on-trend Chapledown Gin Bar, Rum Shack and the Jägermeister Bar built in a caravan!
