Cafe Barletta opens at Dreamland

Bookings are now open at Dreamland’s brand new Mediterranean inspired restaurant, Café Barletta, which is now open.

Cafe Barletta is a new 50-cover restaurant housed inside the Dreamland estate, and is the latest venture from chef Jackson Berg, previously of Kettner’s Townhouse and Xiringuito, Founder of L.O.R (Ladies of Restaurants) Natalia Ribbe, Chef, Cavan Power O’Keeffe and Restaurant Manager, Milo Egan.

Described as part European café and part seaside escape, the restaurant takes inspiration from European cafe culture with a focus on seasonal vegetables from the Garden of England and British sourced meat. The cocktail menu features Mediterranean classics such as vermouth & soda and Campari spritz with a wine list favouring low-intervention wines.

While the menu will change weekly, highlights from opening week were Salt cod, roasted cauliflower, leeks, dill, beurre blanc £8, Raw sea bass, green harissa, lemon, chilli £8, Patatas a la pobre, aioli £7, Steak tartare, roast bone marrow, garlic toast £10 and for dessert, Ricotta pudding, pickled rhubarb, basil £6.5.

The indoor space has been constructed by Margate-based Vacuum Studios, and includes a ‘conversation pit’ built around an 8ft olive tree, which will act as both cocktail reception for guests before or after their lunch or dinner, as well as a hot spot for guests looking for lite bites and drinks pre/post gigs in Dreamland. An Aperitivo hour will occur every Thursday and Friday between 4-6pm, perfect for post-work socials. The restaurant will also offer a four plate lunch offer at £19, for swift lunch breaks.

It is hoped the new restaurant will further bolster Margate’s growing food scene and give even more choice to Dreamland diners, who can currently choose from stylish street food in the main park, American diner favourites at the Roller Disco and gastro-pub dining at Cinque Ports pub.

Jackson Berg was part of the duo who brought the much-lauded ‘moveable restaurant’ Xiringuito to Margate in summer 2016, which was a popular haunt for foodies far and wide.
