Nestled right in the middle of Harbour Street in Whitstable, you will find a warm and comforting spot to sit and watch the world go by well into the evening. Cosy and intimate seating gives Porto (@portowinebar ) a real homely feel, complemented by its friendly and welcoming staff.
Porto is owned by hospitality veteran Helio Andrade, who has a wealth of experience working with The Savoy and the Corinthia in London and most recently working as a consultant to the very popular Cave Hotel and Golf Resort in Blean - a résumé that assures that you’re in very safe hands.
Porto boasts an impressive collection of wine and port that has been brought in from all over the world - an incredible selection of more than 90 wines and 50 ports that are available by the glass have been hand-chosen by Helio himself. It doesn’t matter if you prefer white wine over red, rosé wine over something sparkling, Helio and his team will guide you on your wine crusade.
Helio was born in Porto, which is where the name for his wine bar originates, and this influence can be found throughout, including the fantastic range of ‘petiscos’ - Portuguese snacks that you can nibble on while sipping on your drink of choice. You’ll also find a hat-tip to his Portuguese heritage with Super Bock on tap for those who would prefer a nice cold beer.
Porto can also offer you a port and blue-cheese-tasting sample menu for those who are looking for something a little different.
