OPEN ONE EXHIBITION at Process Gallery, Kent
A showcase of art created with alternative processes
Process Gallery presents OPEN ONE a celebration of art created with alternative processes and non-traditional techniques, which corresponds to the practice of X-ray artist and gallery owner Nick Veasey.
Dedicated to representing premier contemporary art in the South East of England, Process Gallery in Lenham offers an opportunity to encounter diverse and interesting artists in an RIBA Award winning building, whilst surrounded by the beautiful Kent countryside.
Set to exhibit 10 artists, the inaugural group show comprises of emerging, established and international specialists whose innovative and integral processes range from setting fire to oil paintings, meticulously perforated sculptures (with many thousands of hand applied perforations) and the real-time scientific application of paper chromatography.
Visual artist Diana Poput, who creates perforated sculptures, said: “Each artwork is a Finestra that has its own being and represents the course of a lifetime. Because each of us is like a Finestra, unchangeable but always becoming, constantly accumulating.”
Fire Painter Peter Homan said: “The fire gives life to the painting, it can change the colours you first apply or create moon-like textures you can’t make with a brush or a palette knife.”
The exhibition also provides local support to the opening of the Turner Prize at Turner Contemporary, Margate. Part of the ongoing activities and events happening in Kent and London during Turner Prize 2019.
OPEN ONE, a showcase of artistic talent will open to the public on November 8th in Lenham, Kent.
