HIP-HOP LEGENDS THE ROOTS TO PLAY MARGATE SUMMER SERIES
They will be joined by Grammy Hall of Famers De La Soul and The Pharcyde
One of the greatest Hip-Hop bands of all time, The Roots (Friday 2nd August), return to the UK to perform their first headline shows in six years, named one of the greatest live bands around by Rolling Stone, this will be a rare opportunity to see them live.
The crew will be taking over Dreamland for a very special evening of hip-hop as part of the Margate Summer Series, along with De La Soul, The Pharcyde and more.
Having formed in the eighties, The Roots have become one of the best known and most respected hip-hop acts. Their musical flair and creativity has seen them nominated for 12 GRAMMY’s and winners of four including, Best R&B Album for ‘Wake Up!’, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for ‘Hang in There’ (with John Legend) and Best Group or Duo R&B Vocal Performance for ‘Shine’.
The group are prolific, currently serving as the official house band on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and the masterminds behind yearly festival The Roots Picnic, a celebrated institution in the US that sees a star-studded mix of musicians come together.
Also joining is the infamous New York trio De La Soul, who have recently celebrated 35 years since their debut album ‘3 Feet High & Rising’ and on top of that have just become one of the first inductees into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame since 2021, an acknowledgement of their impact on the industry.
Finally, Los-Angeles quartet, The Pharcyde, will complete the line-up with their influential and alternative hip-hop sound, having originally met as dancers expect high-energy and bouncing throughout.
