QUEERCALL LGBTQIA+ festival of Art & Performance heads to Folkestone

Exhibitions include 360 Immersive Sound design, analogue animation, live portraiture printing & participatory storytelling




From 360 Immersive Sound design to live portraiture printing, the 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 ( @queercall) festival of Art & Performance heads to Folkestone this weekend (22nd - 24th March 2024).

Taking place across Folkestone’s coastline & Creative Quarter, the festival will showcase the best LGBTQIA+ art, with free exhibitions featuring cutting-edge 360 Immersive Sound design, analogue animation, immersive computer game experiences, live portraiture printing, and participatory storytelling.

Exhibitions will continue until the 29th of March, featuring a special closing event with TRANS VOICES.


Friday (22nd March)… launches the weekend with the SCREEN SOUTH IMMERSIVE SOUND SHOWCASE followed by QUARTERHOUSE LATES TAKEOVER with THE ANXIOUS PICKLE ARCADE & DJ SET BY KATIE BAXTER. More info HERE


Saturday (23rd March)… kicks off with a free writing workshop by AFLO THE POET (SIGN UP HERE), 3 exhibitions, a durational live art and participatory performance with ISTANBUL QUEER ART COLLECTIVE and 7 Performance Artists making live site-specific durational performance artworks across the coast and public spaces.


Saturday night (23rd March)… will see the festival bringing Live Art to Quarterhouse with a TRIPLE BILL from the UK's top radical queer performers. Featuring new work in progress from dedicated hedonist and self-proclaimed hot-mess KATY BAIRD, a new live solo drag & performance piece from WET MESS and the chance to join Folkestone's own RAY FELIX CARTER in their first work for the stage as they revel in the chaos of in-between-ness. The TRIPLE BILL will be BSL Interpreted. (TICKETS)


The weekend will wrap up with a special Sunday edition of DITA GARBO'S Drag Brunch at the glorious Space Bar & Kitchen, with an exhibition closing event the following Friday (29th of March) with a special performance by TRANS VOICES.

QUEERCALL is produced by Ash McNaughton and commissioned by Marlborough Productions New Queers On The Block artist development programme, with support from University for the Creative Arts, Creative Folkestone, Screen South, The Coast Is Queer, and funding from Arts Council England and The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust.
