Plans for green Beach fitness space with juice bar in Walpole Bay

This Beachfit UK vision includes placing a 40ft container on the promenade and using it as a fitness space, offering training, a range of classes, free kids’ sessions as well as talks from mental health organisations

A personal trainer has unveiled his vision for an environmental fitness space bringing exercise, nutrition and wellness to Walpole Bay.

Clint-Sanyika Odieté uses an area of the Cliftonville beach for his business Beachfit UK and now wants to take it to the next level.

This involves placing a 40ft container on the promenade and using it as a fitness space, offering training, a range of classes, free kids’ sessions as well as talks from mental health organisations.

He is also planning for it to contain a juice bar, with protein shakes, juices as well as wheatgrass shots among its offering.

The 42-year-old, who is preparing a plan to present to Thanet District Council, moved to Margate from London and during lockdown began carrying out fitness sessions by the sea bathing machine near the tidal pool at Walpole Bay.

The sauna was designed by Haeckels’ founder Dom Bridges and the pair got talking.

Odieté started using it for storage but also kept an eye on it while he ran training sessions there, eventually incorporating it into his workouts.

He says he has been humbled by the community at Walpole and now wants to give something back by offering a fitness space to inspire and motivate others.

“It’s a vision I’ve been working tirelessly on bringing to life,” he explains. “It’s all about education, nutrition and wellness.”

He intends to bring in top quality equipment and use both the beach and promenade for fitness sessions.

“It will be an all-encompassing, outdoor space and the first of its kind in Kent,” he says. “This area of beach has served me well, especially during lockdown when I moved here not knowing anyone.

“Now I want to transform my present location into a more defined space where the community can train and strengthen their physical and mental wellbeing.”

If the plan gets the nod from the council, he intends to employ young people to train and staff the space.
